"Triptych" is a term originally used for religious art works presented in three panels, often at the head of an alter. I employ it not to index religious subject matter but rather a frame of listening stretched across three tableaus.
The recording is meant to be transparent so the body and character of the piano, an upright which I have known my entire life, is as much a part of the text as I.

Kara-Lis Coverdale lives in the heart of Montreal but was raised in a swamp in rural Ontario. She studied performance and composition with Gwen Beamish and Omar Daniel at Western University and, for her masters, audio with Jay Hodgson. Her music appears in commercials and documentaries and she is the primary organist and music director at St. John's Estonian church in NDG. She is also the studio apprentice of art-ambient composer Tim Hecker. Kara-Lis's nebulous keyboard textures appear mangled and transformed throughout Tim's forthcoming solo album (2013), and also in her forthcoming electronic work.
